Energy and Environmental Science is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry since 2008 . Nathan Lewis of the California Institute of Technology is the editor-in-chief . In 2016 it was listed in the Science Citation Index in four categories and in three of them it was the journal with the highest impact factor of all journals listed there.

The journal is interdisciplinary and aims to link chemical , physical and biotechnological scientific disciplines with reference to energy supply . The magazine is thematically broad. Articles on all forms of energy conversion , energy storage and alternative fuels are published. In addition, the environmental impacts of energy supply and their reduction are dealt with and papers on atmospheric sciences , global warming and carbon capture measures are also published. The journal publishes both original research papers and review articles .
