The Rosow train station was the railway station for the village of Rosow in the Uckermark district , which is now part of the Mescherin municipality . It was a train station until 1945, after which it was only a stop , whose service was discontinued in 1980. On December 13 and 14, 2016, the old station building, which had been vacant and unused for 36 years, was demolished. Due to its location between the Tantow border station and the state border with Poland , there were peculiarities in operational management. The name Rosow (border) (or Rosow (Gr) ) for the border point of the Berlin – Szczecin railway line was derived from the name of the station .

Location and surroundings

The former train station is located at kilometer 116.5 of the Szczecin Railway . It is located around one and a half kilometers from the center of Rosow in the municipality of Mescherin in the Uckermark district in the far north-east of Brandenburg . The border with the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania runs about 200 meters to the north ; the border with Poland is around three kilometers as the crow flies . The Tantow station is located about five kilometers southwest and the Szczecin Gumieńce station about 13 kilometers northeast. In the immediate vicinity, the railway line crosses today's district road 7311, into which the street Am Bahnhof also ends.

The train station is well over a kilometer north of the actual town of Rosow. There are only a few houses in its immediate vicinity.

history

Since 1843 the railway line from Berlin to Stettin has passed Rosow. In 1892 the towns of Rosow, Nadrensee , Pomellen and Radekow applied to the Royal Prussian Railway Directorate to build a stop. The Rosow stop went into operation on October 1, initially only for passenger and luggage traffic. The Nadrenseer manor owner Husenett provided land free of charge for the construction of extensions to the station in the following years; for this he received the permit for the construction of a connecting railway to the Nadrensee gravel pit. In 1914 the station was equipped with a ramp and goods shed, and in 1924 the station received a reception building.

After the Second World War, the border between the Soviet occupation zone (later GDR) and Poland ran a few kilometers northeast of the Rosow train station, which thus became the last station on German territory. Before the border was finally determined, the Rosow station briefly belonged to Poland, the Polish name for it is Rosowo Szcz. proven. Due to reparations payments to the Soviet Union, the track systems in Rosow were dismantled so that it was only a stopping point. Only after the border had been moved westwards through the Poles three times was the Rosow - Grambow border line recognized in autumn 1948. The Tantow station , a good five kilometers further from the border, was expanded to become a border station . However, the tariff point Rosow Grenz appeared in the tariff documents . Even after 2000, the end point of the line operated by DB at the state border was called the border in documents from DB Netz and the Federal Railway Office Rosow .

Before 1945, Rosow stopped most of the passenger trains on the route. In 1939, nine passenger trains each to and from Stettin stopped at the station. Most of them continued to Berlin, some began or ended in the Angermünde and Casekow stations . After 1945 there was initially one train a day across the newly drawn border before the trains from Angermünde ended in Tantow. 1953 is named as the year of resumption of traffic to Rosow, but trips to Rosow are mentioned in the winter timetable for 1950/51 in the footnote of the timetable table. Until 1980, the Rosow stop was served by two pairs of passenger trains a day from Angermünde, which ran between Tantow and Rosow as a restricted journey . On September 27, 1980, the service of the stop was stopped, the trains then all ended at Tantow station. Local trains have been running across the border again since 1994, but they do not stop in Rosow.

Todays situation

No train has stopped at the stop since 1980. The very dilapidated station building was demolished on December 13th and 14th, 2016 after 36 years of vacancy. The former platform can no longer be seen. Today there is still a bus stop near the old train station that serves line 473 of the Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft .
