The Casekow Bahnhof is a breakpoint , formerly the railway station in the village of Casekow in the district Uckermark . It was opened in 1857 on the Szczecin Railway . Between 1899 and 1945 the Casekow – Penkun – Oder small railway branched off . Since 1994 it has only been a stopping point.

location

The stop is located at kilometer 99.6 of the Szczecin Railway , approx. 500 meters north of the center of Casekow in the Uckermark district . It borders on Bahnhofstrasse and Woltersdorfer Strasse . The neighboring stations are Petershagen , about four kilometers further northeast and Schönow five kilometers southwest. The station is in the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association , or VBB for short.

history

The railway line between Berlin and Szczecin went into operation in 1843. The first stopovers were Passow and Tantow . On October 12, 1857 the train station in Casekow was opened. A post office was also opened in the reception building. Until then, the place was called Kasekow , that is, written with K. Above the entrance to the station building, however, the place name Casekow was written with a C , which corresponded to a linguistic fashion trend at the time. This spelling is still valid today. Casekow had full clearance powers in domestic and international passenger and freight traffic.

On April 8, 1899, a small railway line with a gauge of 750 mm went into operation. The 42 km long route ran from Casekow via Penkun to the Oder . Casekow thus became a transfer station and hub for the rural regions in the Uckermark .

After the Second World War , the small railway line was shut down on May 24, 1945 and dismantled as a reparation payment to the Soviet Union .

former freight yard section (2013)

In 1966/67 Casekow was the terminus of the narrow-gauge test route Passow-Casekow . This was laid as a narrow-gauge railway between the Passow and Casekow stations with a length of 10.3 km to test the operation of new trains. As the end point of this route, the train station in Casekow had the technical equipment for it. On March 21, 1967, the test drives ended after a derailment. It is not clear whether this was the reason for the discontinuation of test operation.

On December 20, 1994 Casekow was converted into a breakpoint with a junction for the agricultural business. 1997 one stopped the freight traffic finally. On May 29, 2005, operations at the junction were also stopped.

Entrance building, street side (2013)

Since 2013, the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure has been advising on unprofitable train stations and stops in the state. According to an analysis by VBBs, there are around 60 train stations in Brandenburg where fewer than 50 passengers get on and off every day. Therefore, it was speculated several times about a possible closure of the stations. Hans-Werner Franz, the managing director of the VBB, rejected these speculations. All stations on the Szczecin Railway in the Uckermark district were also on the list of these 60 stations . These include Schönow , Petershagen , Passow and Casekow.

Today's side platform (2013)

The station once had a total of six tracks. Two main tracks, which were around 220 meters long, and two secondary and loading tracks. For this purpose, there were two signal boxes, of which 15 simple points and two track barriers were controlled. In addition, Casekow was equipped with six main form signals with corresponding pre-signals.

In addition to a reception building , there was also a workshop building and a shed.

Today the former station is just a stop with a side platform on one track. The reception building is no longer used today.

The station building and two outbuildings are on the Brandenburg State's list of monuments. The core of the station building is dated to 1857, i.e. from the time the station opened. It was increased in around 1899/1900. It is a massive and plastered three- or three-and-a-half-story building with a gable roof . The two outbuildings also date from the time the station opened around 1857 and are a one or two-story brick building with a gable roof. An outbuilding was demolished in 2018.

Connection

The stop is served by the regional transport line RB 66 and individual regional express trains. The trains run about every two hours, without a fixed frequency. The regional train runs from Angermünde to Szczecin Główny , the regional express trains run between Berlin Gesundbrunnen and Szczecin Główny.

The bus routes 459, 467, 471 and 472 of the Uckermärkische Verkehrsgesellschaft also serve the stop.
