history

On January 7, 1946, Albert Engbers (1907–1982) opened the “engbers linen factory” in Gronau-Epe in the Münsterland region . In 1950 the shirt factory in Gronau was bought, in which special shirts are produced. In 1960 the first shirt shops opened in Gronau, Münster, Emsdetten and Warendorf, among others, and by 1965 the company already had a branch network of more than 75 branches. The opening of the clothing store in Gronau at Schulstrasse 4 on over 1,600 m² of sales area followed in 1970 and in 1973 the company acquired an object at Düppelstrasse 4 in Gronau, the current headquarters of the main administration. In 1976 Bernhard Bosch joined the company and founded the “Bosch Textile Group” for the wholesale sector. In 1978 the Albert Engbers Foundation was established to promote regional music and sports. Albert Engbers died on January 14, 1982 at the age of 74, after which the Bernhard Bosch family took over the entire company shares in 1986 and introduced a new corporate concept a year later. Bernd Bosch joined the company on March 1, 1993, and the hundredth branch was opened in November 1993. In 1994, the previous managing director Bernhard Bosch died and his son Bernd Bosch took over the management of the company, which he still holds today. In 1996, in the 50th year of its existence, the clothing manufacturer founded the non-profit Bernhard Bosch Foundation “Children of the World: Help for a More Future”. A customer loyalty card was introduced in 1998, which was used by around 2.7 million customers by the beginning of 2019. In 2000 the online shop was opened and the company expanded with over 130 branches. In 2004, the former professional soccer player Thomas Helmer became a partner and testimonial of the company. In 2006, the company entered the Austrian market with the opening of the first branch in Klagenfurt . In 2008, Engbers opened the first stores of the “emilio adani” brand. The promotion of employees has been promoted since 2014 with the opening of the Engbers Academy. In the same year the collection “Glööckler Exclusive for Engbers” was created with Harald Glööckler , which celebrated its premiere in Berlin. The collection was presented together with the incumbent Mister Germany 2014, Oliver Sanne , and the two actors Christian Tews and Jan Kralitschka , well-known from the TV show “ Der Bachelor ” . Wotan Wilke Möhring has been the new brand ambassador since 2016 .

Emilio Adani
