Engels & Consorts

Engels & Consorten is a German television series about the fate of a medium-sized shipyard in the port of Hamburg . The series premiered in 1986. Detlef Rönfeldt directed the film and Eberhard Möbius wrote the scripts . The series was awarded the Herbert Quandt Media Prize and the Ernst Schneider Prize .

In Engels & Consorten , stories of a medium-sized Hamburg family shipyard with 80 employees are told. Mainly, the five-episode story revolves around three generations of the Engels shipbuilding family, who were in financial difficulties in the 1980s. Company patriarch Johann Engels sticks to conventional business practices unsuccessfully, his eldest son Fritjof leads the company to new successes and the younger brother Christian comes into conflict with the law.

Production and broadcast

The NDR production was shot in 1985 and was originally planned for the evening program. As a counterbalance to the Black Forest Clinic series , which was very successful at the time , the series was broadcast in the evening program of ARD . The actors involved were Rainer Hunold , Günther Amberger , Ulrich Matschoss , Gisela Uhlen and Oliver Stritzel , who played the Engels family. In addition, Sabine von Maydell could be seen among others . The last episode aired on February 3, 1986 at 8:15 p.m. and had an audience rating of 36% (equivalent to around 12 million viewers).
