The Englerth family is an entrepreneurial family from the Eschweiler area in the Aachen district in western North Rhine-Westphalia .

First generation

Johann Peter Wültgens (1738-1787) received as compensation for his dismissal an investiture on the yield Eschweiler coal seams in Inderevier . He later acquired more coal concessions until in 1787 he owned over half of all shares in Eschweiler Kohlberg . His efforts were continued by his children Ferdinand, Katharina, Walburga and especially Christine and expanded into a large family estate.

Christine Englerth , b. Wülgens (1767–1838) married Carl Englerth (1756–1814 ) in 1786 and founded the Eschweiler Mining Association ( EBV). From 1800 to 1814, Carl Englerth was the first Eschweiler mayor of Mairie Eschweiler, which was in what was then the French canton of Eschweiler .

In 1818 Dobbs, Englerth and Reuleaux set up a steam engine and machine factory and iron foundry on the right bank of the Inde for the manufacture of pumps, conveyors and iron and paper industrial machines. It is the first machine factory in the Rhineland and benefits from the prevailing German-Walloon-English cooperation.

On April 14, 1830, Carl Englerth and Matthias Hubert Cünzer founded the Pümpchen ironworks in Eschweiler-Pump-Stich under the name Englerth & Cünzer . On January 1, 1872, the company acquired the machine factory and iron foundry from Heinrich Graeser junior, the son of Johann Heinrich Graeser , in Eschweiler-Aue .

Third generation

Her third eldest son Friedrich Englerth (1793-1848) was Mayor of Eschweiler from 1822 to 1831.

In 1851, the Englerth-Cünzer-Fuhse company was founded in Eschweiler-Hasselt to manufacture railroad cars, wagon wheels, locomotive and wagon axles. literature
