The name Aue was common in Eschweiler-Pump since the middle of the 19th century. The southern part of Auestrasse - popularly known as Switzerland - is older. There were former company apartments of the Phönix company (from 1830), the Talbot company (from 1913) and the EBV (from 1941). The Switzerland is a scenic valley with steep slopes of the railway embankment and the adjacent Propsteier forest. The two Auer streets, Auestraße and Phönixstraße , were so named in 1902 on the basis of city council resolutions.

The Aue coal mine was located in the Aue district .

In 1841 the Belgian company T. Michiels & Cie. by Télémaque Fortuné Michiels on the left bank of the Inde a puddling plant, which in 1852 was converted into a stock corporation called Phönix, anonymous company for mining and smelting operations and headquartered in Eschweiler-Aue. At that time, the plant with 1,500 workers was the largest of its kind in Eschweiler. In 1846, around 800 workers were employed in the Eschweiler-Aue iron rolling mill , and an iron rolling mill was founded in 1850, which from 1910 became part of the Eschweiler Mining Association .

The Dreibogenbrücke is built in 1864 and in September 1870 the concession to build and operate the Odenkirchen - Eschweiler-Aue line is granted.

In January 1872, the Englerth & Cünzer company acquired the machine factory and iron foundry from Heinrich Graeser Jr., which was separated again on July 1, 1899 and became independent as Eschweiler Maschinenbau AG . In 1883 Moritz Honigmann developed a fireless soda locomotive that ran on the Königsgrube between Würselen and Aue, which he managed. In July 1908, the Phönix, anonymous society for mining and smelting operations, was shut down because production in the Ruhr area was now cheaper. The factory premises are taken over in 1909 by the Aachen-based wagon construction company JP Goosens . In 1913 the Aachen wagon factory Talbot took over the Phönix factory premises. The plant is closed in January 1925.

In May 1933, twelve semi-detached houses in the new Aue estate were moved into, and in May 1938 the new sports field and clubhouse of FC Rhenania Pump was inaugurated on the former Talbot site. In September 1944 the three-arch bridge was badly damaged, after the war it was replaced by a provisional steel structure and rebuilt on August 31, 1950, and opened again to traffic.

In October 1987 the ESW-Röhrenwerk GmbH - formerly part of the EBV - is founded.
