Fronhoven is a district of Eschweiler in the Aachen city region in North Rhine-Westphalia . It forms a twin city district with Neu-Lohn and is located in the immediate vicinity of Blausteinsee .

Until the 1970s, Fronhoven was a village on the country road between Eschweiler- Dürwiß and Aldenhoven-Pattern or Eschweiler- Erberich . The Landstraße, Erberich, Pattern and the western half of Fronhoven fell victim to open-cast lignite mining. Neu-Lohn was built on the remaining East Fronhoven.

During the excavations near Fronhoven, shortly before the opencast mine was approaching, matronal shrines were found.

The place name is written on a French map from 1802 "Frœnhofen" and on a Prussian map from 1846 "Frohnhoven". See also the term " Fronhof ".
