Neu-Lohn is the northernmost district of Eschweiler , east of the Blausteinsee and west of a motocross track . Neu-Lohn forms a twin city district together with Fronhoven and was built in the 1960s and 1970s at the south-eastern exit of the remaining village of Fronhoven. The place was named after the lost wages . Lohn was relocated for a coal-fired power station, and a small chapel stands near the field as a souvenir of Lohn. Other "new" locations in the Eschweiler / Aldenhoven area are Neu-Pattern and Neu-Langweiler .
St. New Years Eve
St. Silvester is the name of the Catholic parish in Neu-Lohn, to which Neu-Lohn and Fronhoven belong. The villages of Lohn, Pützlohn, Langendorf and Erberich , whichbelonged to the former “parish of Lohn”,fell victim to the lignite mining. St. New Year's Eve was dedicated on December 23, 1972. In 1977 a bellbearerwas built next to the church, and Holy Saturday rang for the first time the three bellsconsecratedto the names of St. Mary , St. New Year's and St. Joseph .
St. New Year's Eve was also the name of the parish church in Lohn, nicknamed "Cathedral of the Jülich Land". It was demolished in December 1973. The memorial chapel parish Lohn east of Neu-Lohn with an altar and other salvaged parts of the interior has been in its place since 2004. Until 1973 the churches of St. Silvester in Lohn and St. Josef in Fronhoven belonged to the parish. St. Silvester and St. Josef were built in 1902/1903 and 1908/1909. The 12th century church was demolished in 1902. During excavations at the site of the Lohner Church, it was found that there were churches here that can be traced back 1500 years ago. However, the parish of Lohn was only mentioned in a document at the beginning of the 13th century. After the completion of the new parish center with church, kindergarten, parsonage and parsonage towards the end of 1972, the entire church life went to Neu-Lohn.
