Bohl is a south-eastern district of Eschweiler between the districts of Bergrath and Volkenrath . The Riffersbach flows through the village and flows into the Omerbach .

history

Bohl came in 1932 together with Hastenrath , Nothberg , Scherpenseel and Volkenrath from what was then the Düren an Eschweiler district in what was then the Aachen district . A Roman road ran through Bohl. Bohl is probably a very old place. The basic form of his name goes back to "bol, böhl, bühl, buhil" and means a rounded elevation like a hill. The street and corridor there "Herrenfeldchen" lie on the district boundary that existed until 1932, but also on the parish boundary between Bergrath and Nothberg. In the 15th century there was in Bergrath, along with other small farms, the "Herrenhof" with the associated fields. This is probably where the name of the street comes from. Another interpretation interprets the "gentlemen" as the manor and church property of the lords of the offices of Eschweiler and Wilhelmstein, which existed until 1789 . Until 1944 there were three lime kilns of the "Kalkwerke Meyer" on the street "Am Kalkofen". As a district of Eschweiler, the town has been part of the Aachen city region since 2009 . The street name "Stüfgensweg" refers to the viticulture that existed here centuries ago . In the Eschweiler city forest is the hallway and the restaurant of the same name "Bohler Heide".

traffic

The city bus lines EW1 and EW3 connect Bohl with the entire south-west of Eschweiler and the Eschweiler bus station via the only bus stop "Bohl". The next train stations are Nothberg and Eschweiler Hbf .
