Between 1893 and 1894, Kossak and Jan Styka (1858–1925) and other painters created the Panorama of Racławice , a large circular painting depicting the victory of the Polish troops in the Battle of Racławice on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Kościuszko uprising ( 1794). This work became an artistic and commercial success and made Kossak widely known.
