history

Development began in the 1950s and 1960s, primarily by displaced persons from the former East German areas. Accordingly, on June 28, 1962, the then city council chose the street names "Allensteiner Strasse", "Danziger Strasse", "Elbinger Strasse", "Königsberger Strasse", "Marienburger Strasse", "Stettiner Strasse", "Tilsiter Strasse", but also “Stralsunder Straße” ( Stralsund was part of the GDR at that time ).

The street “An Wardenslinde” runs along the district. In front of the former town wall of Alt-Eschweiler , there was a chapel under a linden tree in 1790 , where travelers and traders gathered for prayer.
