The Enigma Lake ( English for enigmatic lake ) is a 1000 m long and 450 m wide lake on the Scott coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Northern Foothills , it is 5 km east of Mount Abbott and 3.5 km southwest of Mario Zucchelli Station on the shores of Terra Nova Bay at an altitude of 174 m .
The New Zealand glaciologist Trevor J. H. Chinn (* 1937) discovered and named it in the course of GANOVEX IV (1984–1985). It is named after a puzzling sediment area on the ice in the center of the lake.
