Enos Hook
Enos Hook (born December 3, 1804 in Waynesburg , Greene County , Pennsylvania , † July 15, 1841 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .
Career
After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1826, Enos Hook began working in this profession in Waynesburg. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1837 and 1838 .
In the 1838 congressional election , Hook was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 20th constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Andrew Buchanan on March 4, 1839 . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his resignation on April 18, 1841 . He died on July 15 of the same year in Waynesburg, where he was also buried.
