Enrico Credendino (born January 21, 1963 in Turin ) is an Italian naval officer with the rank of vice admiral .

Military career

After completing officer training at the Accademia Navale in Livorno in 1984, he served on the cruisers Vittorio Veneto and Andrea Doria and on the destroyer Ardito . He commanded the patrol ship Spica , the frigate Maestrale , the 1st patrol squadron in Augusta and the destroyer Francesco Mimbelli . In the meantime he was onshore instructor at the Accademia Navale and at the Admiral and General Staff of the Armed Forces in Rome. Promoted to One Star Admiral in 2011, he served as Deputy Commander of the Deep Sea Fleet until 2013, being Force Commander of Operation Atalanta in the Indian Ocean in 2012 , and then as Commander of the Italo-Spanish Amphibious Combat Group. From September 2013 to May 2015 he headed the operations department of the Admiralty Staff, where he was promoted in 2014.

From June 2015 to February 2020, Credendino was in command of the European Union- led “ Operation Sophia ” mission , which was tasked with combating human smuggling and trafficking networks and combating human smugglers and their networks in the Mediterranean region . Credendino was based in Rome as Operation Commander . During this employment he was promoted to Vice Admiral on January 1, 2019.

On March 12, 2020, Credendino took over the management of the training command of the Italian Navy.

In the course of his officer training, Credendino made a marine-related university degree from the University of Pisa . In the further course he obtained further university degrees from the universities of Trieste (political science) and Perugia (security studies). He completed admiral and general staff training courses in the UK (1999) and at CASD (2008) in Rome
