Enrico Toselli (born March 13, 1883 in Florence , † January 15, 1926 in Florence) was an Italian composer and pianist .

Life

Enrico Toselli came from a wealthy family from Nice . He received piano lessons from his mother Ottavia at a young age. When he made his debut in his hometown at the age of 10, he aroused admiration and amazement. Years of perfection followed by Giovanni Sgambati (a student of Franz Liszt ) and Giuseppe Martucci (whom Anton Rubinstein admired). From 1897 to 1907 Toselli made tours to Paris , Turin , Pallanza and (1904/1905) Cairo and Alexandria . His most famous work, the Serenata op. 6.1, which became famous under the name "Toselli Serenade", was composed by Toselli in 1900, at the age of 17.

In 1907 Enrico Toselli married Luise of Austria-Tuscany , who had previously been married to the Saxon Crown Prince and later King Friedrich August . The two had a son, Carlo Emmanuele Filiberto (1908-1969), but were divorced in 1912. Their son stayed with Toselli. After the failed marriage, Enrico Toselli was no longer able to celebrate successes like before and was forgotten. He lived in Florence, Via Lamarmora, and died there of cancer at the age of only 43. His son and second wife, Pia Santarini Pancerasi, were with him when he died.
