Enrique Báez , full name Enrique Raúl Báez , (born January 19, 1966 in Santa Lucía ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.83-meter-tall offensive player "China" Báez is the father of the football player Jaime Báez . He was a member of the Montevideo Wanderers team at the beginning of his career from 1984 to mid-1988 . Austria Wien was his employer in the 1988/89 and 1989/1990 seasons . For the Austrians, he played 28 league games and scored five goals. The Viennese won the ÖFB Cup in the 1989/90 season . He then moved to Nacional Montevideo in July 1990 . The commitment with the capital city lasted until the end of 1991. In 1992 and 1993 he was active for the Argentine club Club Atlético Talleres . From 1994 to the end of 1995 a career station at the Colón Fútbol Club followed .

National team

Báez took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship 1985 in Paraguay . The Uruguayan team finished fourth there. During the tournament he was used by coach Aníbal Gutiérrez Ponce four times (one goal). He made his debut on February 2, 1986 in the Uruguayan senior team . Then Báez belonged to the squad at the Copa America 1987 , which won the continental title. In total, he completed seven international matches, in which he scored a personal goal. His last international match in the "Celeste" was on November 9, 1988.
