The Ensemble Phoenix Munich (EPM) is an early music ensemble based in Munich , which is primarily dedicated to music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods as well as early American music. The founder and director of the ensemble is bass and lutenist Joel Frederiksen.

The Ensemble Phoenix Munich was founded in 2003 by the American early music specialist and musician Joel Frederiksen. Since 2007 the ensemble has presented the annual concert series “Between Mars and Venus” in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich. It also appears regularly at international festivals and with artists such as Hille Perl and Emma Kirkby . The EPM's programs, which range from music from the Renaissance and early Baroque (approx. 1500–1650) to early American music (approx. 1800–1900), are shaped by its director, Joel Frederiksen. The ensemble uses facsimiles of the original sources, historical instruments or their replicas, uses the mood of the respective countries and epochs and maintains contact with recent research on aspects of historical interpretation. In addition, there are always excursions into the new music with composition commissions for selected programs. Guest engagements lead the Ensemble Phoenix Munich to festivals on a regular basis. a. Innsbruck Festival Weeks , Early Music Festival in Bruges, Early Music Days in Herne , Festival d'Ile de France, Prague Spring , Budapest Spring Festival. There are various CD recordings of the EPM, released by harmonia mundi France and SONY / DHM. The legal form of Ensemble Phoenix Munich has been the non-profit association (EPM eV) since 2010.
