Duck Fountain (Nörvenich)

The duck well, 1981

The duck fountain on the market square in front of the Barrensteinhaus in Nörvenich , Düren district is a work by the sculptor Jean Vincent de Crozals from 1981.

In the center of the old location, it reminds of the rural past of the village. Three lively, wing-flapping ducks and a young animal stand in the water or at the edge of the pool. The well is supplied with water by a pump which is connected to the old hand water pump next to it. The hand water pump was shut down in 1916 when the village was connected to the public water supply, but was reactivated for a few months at the end of 1944 when the water pipe failed due to the war .

The community made the duck fountain a gift to the longtime honorary mayor Heinrich Kuss.
