He achieved his first national success by winning silver medals in ski jumping and Nordic combined at the Italian championships. A year later he repeated this success. At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he reached 20th place in the individual Nordic combined. In ski jumping on the normal hill, he ended up tied with Robert Rey on 48th place. In 1957 he won the Italian championship title in combination as well as in ski jumping. In 1958, 1959 and 1960 he won the combined title again. At the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , he reached 14th place in the combined and 37th place in jumping from the normal hill. Shortly thereafter, he won his fourth Italian championship title in combination. He repeated this success again in 1962, 1963 and 1964. At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 he competed again in the Nordic Combined and reached 18th place in the individual competition. In 1965 he won silver again at the Italian championships.
