Epsilonproteobacteria (also ε-Proteobacteria) refers to a class in the phylogenetic system of bacteria that was established on the basis of the base sequence of the ribosomal 16S ribonucleic acid ( 16S rRNA ). The phylum (the strain) Proteobacteria is divided into the 5 classes Alphaproteobacteria to Epsilonproteobacteria. In the last few years two more classes have been added, the Oligoflexia and the Zetaproteobacteria . Due to the thin Mureinhülle , a lipid - membrane is superposed, all representatives of this strain are Gram-negative .
Only two orders belong to the epsilonproteobacteria :
- Campylobacterales Garrity et al. 2006
- Nautiliales Miroshnichenko et al. 2004
and other isolates that have not yet been classified with certainty.
The order Campylobacterales in turn only includes the two families Campylobacteraceae Vandamme & De Ley 1991 with the genera
- Campylobacter Sebald & Véron 1963
- Arcobacter Vandamme et al. 1991 and
- Sulfurospirillum Schumacher et al. 1993
and Helicobacteraceae Garrity et al. 2006 with the genera
- Helicobacter Goodwin et al. 1989 and
- Wolinella Tanner et al. 1981.
Helicobacter pylori has been isolated from the human stomach and is thought to be responsible for the development of gastric ulcers .
The family " Hydrogenimonaceae " is currently under discussion (April 2019) , for this purpose the genus Hydrogenimonas Takai et al. Posed in 2004.
