Equal Rights (equality) is an album of reggae musician Peter Tosh . With this album, released in 1977, Tosh achieved his breakthrough; Since then, Tosh has been considered the most important reggae musician alongside Bob Marley - both were band members in The Wailers . Tosh was considered the most politically active member of the Wailers, and Equal Rights is correspondingly committed . In addition to South Africa's apartheid policy , the topics discussed are racism in general, the Tosh, the appeal to African unity and the rebellion against political grievances (Get Up, Stand Up) . While the album was praised as a self-confident statement by the blacks, it was criticized precisely because of its one-sided political character, as the striking message was at the expense of the musical quality of the pieces.
