Equinox was a Norwegian thrash metal band from Fredrikstad that was formed in 1988 and split again in 1995.

history

The band was founded in 1988 by Grim Stene (electric guitar, vocals), Ragnar “Raggen” Westin (drums), Skule Stene (electric bass) and Tommy Skarning (electric guitar). In the same year she released the demo What the Fuck Is This? . During the Christmas season of the year, the band went to the Athletic Sound Studio in Halden to record their debut album Auf Wiedersehen . The album was released through their own label called Laughing Deer. This gave the band a contract with BMG / RCA Records in 1989 . The album was re-released in the same year and tours of Norway followed. The band also performed at various festivals and played with bands such as Backstreet Girls , Old Funeral , Mayhem , Artch , Witchhammer , Aunt Mary , Red Harvest , Life But How to Live It , Tindrum and Cadaver . During these years she released two more albums with The Way to Go in 1990 and Xerox Success in 1991. She also released some EPs. On the album Labyrinth from 1994 guitarist Tommy Skarning and drummer Ragnar Westin were no longer to be heard. They were replaced by Espen Holm and Jørn Wangsholm. The band split the following year.

style

Equinox initially played classic Thrash Metal. With later releases, however, the game became more technical and experimental. On their Myspace profile, the band Mercyful lists Fate , Black Sabbath , Voivod , Dead Kennedys , Metallica , Megadeth , AC / DC , Celtic Frost and Frank Zappa as their main influences.
