Era (music project)
Era (common spelling: eRa , abbreviation for "Eminential Rhythm of the Ancestors") is a band of the French musician Éric Lévi , a former member of the glam rock group Shakin 'Street . The musicians also include Daryl Stuermer , Chester Thompson and Leland Sklar , who have become known for their long-term collaboration with Genesis and Phil Collins . The band has already sold more than twelve million records worldwide.
Career and style of music
In addition to English verses, the texts often contain passages in an invented language that is similar to Latin , or they are written exclusively in this invented language.
Her music has traits from the fields of classical music , opera and Gregorian chant . Their music was used in the soundtrack of the French film The Visitors and in the film Driven . The song "Ameno" is used in Australia in "The Power of Yes" advertisements for Optus Telecommunication. The band has sold more than three million albums. Era is also famous among mixed martial arts fans for her song "Enae Volare Mezzo", the theme song by Fyodor Jemeljanenko . They often wear medieval clothing and armor at their live concerts.
The first album, inspired by artists like Enya or Vangelis and strongly reminiscent of the first Enigma album , was a great success thanks to the interplay with Gregorian choirs , ancient sounds and synthesizers . In music, which could be classified as belonging to the New Age genre, symbols of the religious are used in particular .
With the title "The Champions" from the album The Mass , Era contributed the opening anthem to the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan. In November 2017 the new album "The 7th Sword" was released after a long break.
