He was dean and obedientiarius of the Magdeburg Monastery, prepositus and thesaurarius of the collegiate donors St. Nicolai, St. Petri and St. Pauli and St. Gangolphi in Magdeburg and heir to Otzdorf and Barleben .

Life

Erasmus Christian von Arnstedt came from the von Arnstedt family and was the son of Hieronymus Brand von Arnstedt, canon of the Halberstadt Monastery, heir to Otzdorf, Gropendorf and Burichen, and his wife Sidonia von Bennigsen from the Banteln family. He was born on June 26, 1628 at Gut Banteln in the state of Braunschweig in the middle of the troubled times of the Thirty Years' War. Ten years later, his father died of the plague in the city of Braunschweig. His mother suddenly found himself alone with eight underage children. Nevertheless, she made it possible for her son to attend schools in Hildesheim and Halle (Saale) .

In Magdeburg he received the right to a cathedral priest in 1637, which he took up in 1648 at the age of 20. From 1650 he studied at the University of Strasbourg. In 1655 he received a vacant position as cathedral capitular in Magdeburg and in 1694, after the death of Freiherr von der Schulenburg in Magdeburg, he assumed the office of cathedral dean, which he held until one death. In Barleben he was the builder of the Arnstedter Hof .

He died on April 14, 1706 at the age of 78 and was transferred from Magdeburg to Barleben on May 27, 1706 in a noble company. The solemn burial took place there on May 28, 1706 in the Arnstedt hereditary funeral. The funeral sermon given there by the Barleben pastor Martin Kale appeared in print that same year by the privileged royal Prussian printer Johann Daniel Müller.
