Georg Schlotter

Georg Schlotter (born February 23, 1889 in Hildesheim , † December 5, 1915 in Göttingen ) was a German painter and in particular flower and figure painter.

Life

Georg Schlotter was born in the early days of the German Empire as the younger brother of the sculptor Heinrich Schlotter (1886–1964).

After attending school, Georg Schlotter first went to the Hildesheim School of Crafts and Applied Arts , then to Berlin at the school of the Kunstgewerbemuseum , where he studied with the painters Max Koch and Emil Rudolf Weiß .

In 1914, Schlotter was still creating paintings for the Cologne Werkbund exhibition ( yellow house and wine restaurant ) during the imperial era .

During the First World War , Schlotter fought in France , where he was seriously wounded in 1915. After being transported to a military hospital in Göttingen, he died there of bleeding on December 5th of the same year.

At the beginning of the Weimar Republic , a posthumous memorial exhibition with works by the deceased artist was shown in the Roemer Museum Hildesheim in November 1920 .
