Ercan Demir

Ercan Demir (born May 19, 1970 in Alaca , Turkey ) is a former Turkish bodybuilder .

Life

Demir came to Munich at the age of ten as the son of Turkish guest workers . In his youth he played soccer in the youth departments of TSV 1860 Munich and FC Bayern Munich , but had to give up his career at the age of 16 due to a torn cruciate ligament .

Demir, who now devoted himself to bodybuilding, won his first title at the age of 18, the Munich City Championship. Other titles followed over the years, including junior world champion, European champion and runner-up world champion in Amman . In 1999 he suffered tissue damage on his biceps. Due to the lack of symmetry in his body, he had to end competitive bodybuilding early. He then opened a fitness studio in Ludwigsvorstadt in Munich . He competed in his last competition in 2010 at the World Seniors Championships in Antalya , where he finished 2nd.

His life story was filmed in 2012 under the title Pumping Ercan and is distributed on DVD; the film premiere was shown at DOK.fest Munich in cinemas and on Bavarian television .
