Earth image measurement

Earth image measurement is the older name for terrestrial photogrammetry and the equivalent of aerial image measurement . It is primarily used to measure the shape and position of objects up to about 100 meters in size - for example architecture , facades or sculptures , as well as small landforms , quarries , sand or gravel pits . It is also important as a supplement to visual topography and cartography (map production).

The surveying of objects by means of measurement images , the two or more camera -Standpunkten on the earth's surface are made. The images can be evaluated individually or with the aid of the stereo effect .

Special tasks are close-range photogrammetry - for example of works of art and old globes - as well as medical and accident photogrammetry .
