Ergican Saydam

Ergican Saydam (born March 28, 1929 in Istanbul , Turkey ; † December 21, 2009 ibid) was a Turkish pianist and musicologist .

life and career

He was trained by the great Viennese pianist Prof. Friedrich Wührer in Munich and was one of the particularly cultivated representatives of the old Viennese pianist tradition. He worked as the head of the Serious Music Department at the Turkish Radio (TRT) in Istanbul and as a professor at the Istanbul Music Academy , as a visiting professor in Italy, Austria, Germany, Venezuela and Guiana.

Saydam played as an orchestral soloist and at piano evenings as well as in a duo with Professors Michael Grube ( violin ) and Lukas David (violin).

He also accompanied his daughter Ezgi Saydam ( soprano ) in his last important concerts . In Asia, America and Africa as well as in all European music metropolises his art of interpretation was very much appreciated.
