Erhard Adolf Matthiessen (born October 7, 1763 in Altona ; † November 1, 1831 there ) was a German lawyer , businessman and councilor .

Life

Erhard Adolf Matthiessen was the son of the merchant and councilor Conrad Matthiessen (* December 1723; † June 15, 1789) and his wife Agneta Gertrud Fleisch (* unknown; † April 1794). His father was the son of the whaler Otto Matthiessen and founded the fishing and trading institute in Altona .

Erhard Adolf Matthiessen studied law in Göttingen . He was a licentiate in law and a cashier at the Bank Comptoir in Altona . In 1788 he became its auditor when the Speciesbank was founded . On October 29, 1790 he was appointed learned councilor . On March 6, 1795 he was Vice Police Officer in Altona . After the death of his brother Otto, who died on December 16, 1796, he took over his business and was the owner of the Matthiessen shop in Altona ; As a result, he became commercial councilor in Altona on March 29, 1797. Since March 11, 1808, he was also a member of the Commerz College, an interest group representing the Altona colonial traders. In 1817 he became general administrator of pupil money (= orphan money). On March 7, 1820 he was appointed the Danish real judicial council , but asked for his release on January 5, 1821.

Erhard Adolf Matthiessen was married to Katharina Elisabeth Niemeyer, who died before him, and with whom he had four sons and a daughter.
