Erhart Krumpholz

Erhart Krumpholz (born November 17, 1912 in Wilkau ; † November 22, 2008 ) was a German motorcycle racer .

Krumpholz began his career before the Second World War and launched among other things, a 250- cc - DKW and on a 500 BMW . After the war, the Saxon belonged to the factory team of the Zschopau manufacturer IFA (from 1956 MZ ). In 1952 Erhart Krumpholz was GDR champion in the 125 cm³ class, at the end of the 1956 season he ended his active career for the time being.

In the following years he promoted the career of his son Dieter , who was appointed to the MZ factory team in 1962. When the 50 cm³ class was included in the motorcycle world championship for the 1962 season and MZ decided to take part with a factory machine, Krumpholz, now 49 years old, returned again. He competed with the RE 50 at the GDR Grand Prix at the Sachsenring in the 50 run and finished ninth. Incidentally, his son was also at the start of this race - albeit in the eight-liter run. Two years later, Dieter Krumpholz had a fatal accident in a traffic accident.

Erhart Krumpholz worked as a driver for MZ well beyond retirement age . He died in a nursing home in 2008 at the age of 96 .
