Eric Boggan

Eric Boggan (born August 14, 1963 ) is an American table tennis player . He participated in six world championships .

Career

Eric Boggan is a son of table tennis historian Tim Boggan . As a six-year-old Eric already appeared in tournaments. He increased his playing strength and was nominated for the first time in 1979 for the world championship . Until 1991 he took part in a total of six world championships, but never came close to medal ranks. In 1982 he won the individual at the North American Championships.

From 1982 Eric Boggan played in Europe for a few years. First he joined the Swedish club Angby and in 1983 moved to the German Bundesliga for TTC Grünweiß Bad Hamm . A year later he was hired by Spvg Steinhagen , and in 1986 he returned to the USA. In 1980 he took part in the first World Cup as a representative of North America . Until 1986 followed another four appearances, his best finish was seventh place three times.

In 2003, Eric Boggan was inducted into the Hall of Fame for United States Table Tennis Players.

Eric Boggan's older brother Scott had a similar career in table tennis.
