Eric Kohn

Eric Kohn (* in Texas ) is an American film critic . He has been the chief critic of IndieWire since 2009 and is also deputy editor of the online film magazine with a focus on independent films.

Life

Eric Kohn was born in Texas and grew up in Seattle . After graduating from NYU with a bachelor's and master's degree in film studies, Kohn began working for the online film magazine IndieWire in 2007 . Two years later he was named IndieWire's chief critic and promoted to senior editor in 2011. He has also appeared in the New York Times , New York Magazine , The Wrap , Moving Pictures Magazine , Filmmaker Magazine, Moviemaker, Heeb Magazine and many other media outlets.

He is a member of the New York Film Critics Circle , the National Society of Film Critics and also a FIPRESCI member.

In 2014 he received the Media Legacy Award. Three years later he acted as a jury member in the Semaine de la critique sub-section at the Cannes International Film Festival . Kohn lives in New York.
