Eric Krenz ( Eric Christian William Krenz; born May 7, 1906 in Stockton , California , † August 18, 1931 in Emerald Bay State Park ) was an American shot putter and discus thrower .

At the 1928 Olympics , he finished fourth in the shot put.

In the discus throw he set two world records on March 9, 1929 with 49.90 m and on May 17, 1930 with 51.03 m. In 1927 and 1929 he became US champions and , starting at Stanford University in 1928 , NCAA champions.

Eric Krenz drowned on a boat trip on Lake Tahoe .
