Erich Brehm
Erich Brehm (born September 12, 1910 in Berlin ; † November 15, 1966 there ) was a German cabaret writer and director.
Life
Brehm studied mathematics and physics and worked as a teacher in Berlin-Neukölln . In June 1945 he and Heinz Kuckhähn founded the first post-war Berlin cabaret, the Kiki in the Kindl brewery. Soon he was appointed to the main school office by city school councilor Ernst Wildangel and became deputy city school councilor. He only returned to the stage in 1948 and wrote texts with Horst Heitzenröther for the cabaret Frischer Wind . After that he was at the cabaret Kleine Bühne and became its director after leaving the municipal school office at the end of 1951.
From 1953 he was the first director of the newly founded Berlin cabaret Die Distel . After handing over management to Hans Krause in 1958, he produced Das Stacheltier , the only satirical DEFA short film series. Brehm was the author of numerous cabaret texts and scripts for Stacheltier and magazine programs. In 1961 he was awarded the GDR National Prize.
