Erich Buljung (born March 21, 1944 in Yugoslavia ) is a former American sports shooter .

successes

Erich Buljung took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul in part. In 1984 he competed with the free pistol and finished the competition in ninth place. Four years later he qualified with the air pistol with 590 points as the first to qualify for the final. In this he achieved a further 97.9 points, the fifth-best final result, and finished with 687.9 total points behind Tanju Kirjakow and ahead of Xu Haifeng, silver. At world championships in 1982 in Caracas he was runner-up in the team competitions with the free pistol and the air pistol. In addition, he secured bronze with the standard pistol team, which he also achieved in 1990 in Moscow . In 1983 Buljung won the gold medal in the individual competitions at the Pan American Games in Caracas with the free pistol, the large- bore pistol and the standard pistol. He was also victorious in the team competition with the standard pistol, while he won silver with the team in the other two disciplines. In 1987, in Indianapolis , he again took first place with the standard pistol and came second with the free pistol. He finished the team competition with the free pistol in third place.

Buljung was a professional soldier and served in the US Army for over 25 years , including in Vietnam . He graduated from Troy University with a degree in Criminal Justice . At times he was national trainer for the US pistol shooters.
