Erich Egg

Erich Egg (born May 1, 1920 in Hall in Tirol ; † April 22, 2008 ) was a Tyrolean art historian , folklorist and museum director .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in 1947, he worked from 1948 to 1949 as a consultant for Tyrol's local museums. Until 1955 he held various offices in the Tyrolean provincial government. In 1956 he became director of the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck, an office that he held until his retirement in 1985. From 1963 to 1985 he was also director of the Kaiserschützenmuseum . Egg is the father of the prehistorian Markus Egg .
