Erich Gast (born April 16, 1913 in Rimbach (Odenwald) ; † April 12, 1993 ) was a German graduate engineer , test engineer for Junkers and Vice President of the Federal Patent Court .

Life

Gast studied physics at the TH Darmstadt from 1931 to 1936 and graduated with a degree in engineering . From 1936 he worked for the Junkers aircraft factory in Dessau, developing flight measuring devices. He later worked on the new F aircraft types as a test engineer and pilot, which included around 1500 test flights. In particular, the aircraft types Ju 90 ("Der Große Dessauer", identification D-AALU) and JU 190 were developed by him. During the Second World War he also undertook transport flights from Greece to North Africa.

In the post-war period, due to his knowledge of English, he initially worked as an interpreter for the American occupation forces. In 1948 he was able to pursue his special inclinations in his own development company. During this time he and his brother Prof. Dr. ing. Theodor Gast for industry and mining the "Gastsche dust scales" . In 1953 he began working at the Federal Patent Court, where he was judge from 1963 and its vice-president from January 1975 to April 30, 1978.

Guest was a member of the striking student union Turnerschaft Merovingia Darmstadt in the CC . He played the violin and the piano.
