Erich Hoffmann (State Secretary)

Erich Hoffmann (born December 6, 1871 in Guben ; † after 1937) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician .

Life and work

Hoffmann began studying the law, which he in 1893 with the first and 1899 with the second legal state examination and awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He then entered the Prussian civil service. He initially worked as a laborer for the district administrator of the Neustettin district , switched to the government in Düsseldorf in 1902 and was appointed to the government council in 1907. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier .

After the November Revolution , Hoffmann was appointed lecturer in the Prussian Ministry of Commerce. From 1922 until his appointment as State Secretary in 1926, he worked as a ministerial director in the Reich Ministry of Food and Agriculture . In 1929 he retired. On August 18, 1937, during the Niemöller trial, he testified that he "never noticed any criticism of the Aryan legislation from him".
