Erich Kunz
Erich Kunz (born May 20, 1909 in Vienna , † September 8, 1995 in Vienna) was an Austrian opera singer ( baritone ).
Life
Kunz was a member of the Vienna State Opera from 1940 . As a member of the Vienna Mozart Ensemble , he sang a. a. the “Papageno” in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Die Zauberflöte , the “Leporello” in Don Giovanni and the title role in Le nozze di Figaro . Guest appearances have taken him to almost every major opera house in the world. His "Beckmesser" in Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg was also famous . In smaller roles - for example as "sacristan" in Tosca - he was on the stage of the Vienna State Opera until the late 1980s. The very humorous artist also achieved great popularity as an interpreter of sophisticated Viennese songs .
Erich Kunz is buried in an honorary grave in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 40, number 174).
His daughter was the actress Nicolin Kunz, who died in 1997 .
