Herbert Prikopa
Herbert "Happi" Prikopa (born November 30, 1935 in Vienna ; † December 8, 2015 there ) was an Austrian television presenter , conductor , opera singer (tenor), actor , composer , writer , pianist and cabaret artist .
Life
In 1954, at the age of 19, he became the youngest répétiteur at the Vienna Volksoper . After a singing engagement at the Vienna Chamber Opera , he became a member of Gerhard Bronner's “ Nameless Ensemble ” in the cabaret program Brettl vorm Klavier . In 1957, instead of the répétiteur contract, there was a soloist contract at the Volksoper. From 1988 to 2009, Prikopa was a member of the radio cabaret team " Der Guglhupf ". From the 1998/1999 to 2007/2008 seasons, Prikopa was musical director and conductor of the Johann Strauss Concert Gala in Vienna.
He was known to young television audiences as the presenter of the children's program Also Fun Must Be on ORF in the 1980s. Here he appeared as Herbert "Happi" Prikopa.
On March 21, 2005, Prikopa received the professional title of Professor .
He died on December 8, 2015 in Vienna.
Herbert Prikopa was buried on January 7, 2016 in the Vienna Central Cemetery in an honorary grave (group 40, number 195).
