Nameless ensemble

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nameless ensemble was a cabaret group in Austria that was successful in the 1950s.

history

The ensemble was founded in 1952 by Gerhard Bronner and represented a counterweight to the “Simpl” around Karl Farkas . Together with Michael Kehlmann , Carl Merz and Helmut Qualtinger , Bronner brought the first cabaret program to the “Small Theater in the Concert House”. Brettl vor'm Kopf ”, which premiered on November 12, 1952. The cabaret artists acted simultaneously as authors, composers and musicians. For example, the music came from Bronner, which he also played on one of the two pianos, while Kehlmann directed and Merz acted as emcee .

Then there was a break from playing because Bronner and Kehlmann wanted to work in the first and only television studio in the German-speaking area in Hamburg .

In 1956 Bronner returned and together with Georg Kreisler leased the " Intime Theater " in Liliengasse, where the new program "Blattl vor'm Mund", now without Kehlmann, but with Georg Kreisler and Peter Wehle premiered on October 3rd, 1956 would have. Louise Martini joined the nameless troupe as a member of the ensemble.

On October 3, 1957, “Glasl vor'm Aug”, which was broadcast by the young medium of television, premiered in the Intimate Theater before the ensemble's lease for the theater was terminated in 1958.

Between October 1958 and the summer of 1959, eight episodes of the cabaret series “Spiegel vor'm G'sicht” were broadcast on television ( ORF ), initially from the “ Bürgerertheater ” and later from the “ Stadttheater ” (Etablissement Ronacher). The cabaret thus reached new audiences and reaped unimagined success.

In 1959 the company moved to the “ New Theater am Kärntnertor ”, where the “Dachl überm Kopf” program premiered on October 7th. During this time, other well-known cabaret artists such as Kurt Sobotka , Kurt Jaggberg or Johann Sklenka were members of the ensemble.

On October 12, 1960, the last cabaret revue "Hackl vor'm Kreuz" by the nameless ensemble had its premiere before the cabaret troupe disbanded in 1961 because Martini, Merz and Qualtinger no longer wanted to take part. The last known Bronner chansons "Der g'schupfte Ferdl", "Der Bundesbahnblues" or "Papa will fix it" have become legendary.
