You don't kiss under water is an Austrian film fun game made in 1961 with Gunther Philipp in the lead role of a stupid private detective.

action

Director Kaiser, President of the CDF Bank, financed an underwater expedition in the Mediterranean and believes that his pretty daughter Elfie has joined it. That doesn't suit him at all, and so he hires the private detective Lutz Blitz, who, contrary to his name, is anything but lightning-smart, to bring the girl home to Austria. As soon as he arrives, Blitz confuses Elfie with another member of the expedition and, incidentally, falls in love with the real Elfie, whose true identity he does not initially know.

Production notes

One does not kiss under water was created in the second half of 1961 in Italy and Greece and was premiered on March 2, 1962. The German premiere took place on November 30, 1962.

Hans Zehetner designed the film structures, screenplay co-author Rolf Olsen helped the inexperienced director Erich Heindl , who was also the production manager, as the artistic director of the production.

Cinematographer Hans Heinz Theyer died completely unexpectedly during the filming.

Reviews

Paimann's film lists summed up: “It's a shame about the expedition shots from Italy and Greece, which were used to fill the simple story with commentary that bridged dialogue fragments. Insufficiently managed offspring and chargeable newcomers move about in it, tap into platitudes and perform 'Schlager' for the best; in a pretty landscape, cheap decorations, uneven color photography. "

"An extremely amateurish mixture of a failed cultural film, which was enriched with numerous underwater shots, and a clumsy comedy that is entirely determined by the grimacing main actor."
