Erick Wujcik

Erick Wujcik (born January 26, 1951 , † June 7, 2008 in San Rafael , California ) was an American developer of role-playing games and co-founder of Palladium Books .

Life

Wujcik began his "career" as the head of the Gaming Society at Wayne State University . From 1979 to 1981 he wrote a weekly computer column for The Detroit News newspaper . In 1981 he founded the role-playing game publisher Palladium Books with Kevin Siembieda . In addition to his work on role-playing games for Palladium Books ( Rifts , Robotech, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , and many more), he also developed the Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game , a role-playing game without dice. He was also the director of the Detroit Gaming Center , founder of Ambercon , a convention around the role-playing game Amber and publisher of the role-playing game magazine Amberzine (discontinued 2005).

In 1997 he started working for Sierra Studios , where he was the main developer for the computer role- playing game Return to Krondor . He developed the game Alter Echo for the company Outrage Entertainment . From 2004 to 2006 he worked as a game developer for Ubisoft in Shanghai . Until his death in 2008 he was a senior game designer for Totally Games in San Francisco .

On June 7, 2008, Erick Wujcik died of cancer.
