Erik Gyselinck

Erik Gyselinck (also spelled Erik Gijselinck ; born November 27, 1945 ) is a former Belgian long-distance runner who won three medals at World Cross Country Championships .

In 1970 he won the Belgian championship title in the 10,000 meter run . In 1973 he took 19th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Waregem and won gold in the team competition with Willy Polleunis , Gaston Roelants , Erik De Beck , Karel Lismont and Marc Smet . In the following year Gyselinck finished 45th at the Cross Country World Championships in Monza and defended the previous year's title in front of the English team together with De Beck, Lismont, Smet, Roelants and Frank Grillaert . Gyselinck also ran for the Belgian team at the 1975 World Cross Country Championships in Rabat . He finished 62nd in the individual ranking, with the team he won the bronze medal behind the teams from New Zealand and England. In 1977 Gyselinck won his second Belgian championship title, this time in a marathon .
