Erik Kirschbaum

Erik Kirschbaum (* 1960 ) is an American journalist and foreign correspondent.

Life

Kirschbaum studied German and history at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , where he received a bachelor's degree . He then worked as a correspondent for various newspapers and for the Associated Press . In 1989 he moved to Frankfurt am Main for the Associated Press . From 1990 he worked there for Reuters and reported on economic topics. In 1993 he moved to Berlin and worked as a correspondent for politics and news. As such, he reported from Vienna on political and economic issues there, as well as on the Yugoslav Wars . After his return to Berlin, Kirschbaum worked as a freelance journalist for various US newspapers and magazines. In 1996 he returned to Reuters. Since 2015 he has been working as a freelance journalist again, including for the Los Angeles Times .

He wrote several books, including one on German-Americans.

Kirschbaum was active in the Association of Foreign Press in Germany for many years . From 2009 to 2012 he acted as its treasurer , was deputy chairman from 2012 to 2013 and chairman of the association from 2013 to 2014.
