Bernd Zirkler

Bernd Zirkler (born March 27, 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a German economist. He holds the chair for general business administration, in particular accounting and controlling, at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau , vice dean of the faculty of economics and deputy director of the institute for business administration.

Life

From 1991 to 1996 Bernd Zirkler studied business administration with a focus on accounting, controlling, industrial management and business English at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . He then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Accounting and Controlling of Wolfgang Männel at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 1996, Zirkler spent a research stay with Robert S. Kaplan at Harvard Business School . In May 2001, Zirkler received his doctorate on "Leadership-Oriented American Management Accounting" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In January 2009 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on "Cash flow statements - preparation within the framework of national and international accounting standards and possible applications in finance and value-based controlling" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

In March 2009, Zirkler was offered the professorship for general business administration, in particular accounting and controlling, at the West Saxon University of Zwickau.

Zirkler received an honorary doctorate from the Kazakh-American Free University Öskemen in September 2019 for his academic and scientific commitment.

Bernd Zirkler is married and has a son and a daughter.

Bernd Zirkler is involved in cooperations with international universities for the purpose of student exchanges or cooperative doctoral procedures with universities such as the Tongji University in Shanghai , the State University of Saint Petersburg , the Academy of Labor and Social Relations in Moscow , the Tec de Monterrey in Monterrey and the University of the West of Scotland .

In research, Zirkler focuses on accounting and controlling, primarily in the areas of integrated controlling concepts, international accounting and US management accounting.
