Erika Forster-Vannini (born February 27, 1944 in Zurich ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Erika Forster grew up with two sisters in a commercial household in Zurich. Several stays abroad followed after her high school diploma . Erika Forster is married to Ueli Forster , a textile entrepreneur, and the mother of four adult children. She is a citizen of St. Gallen and Neunkirch .

At the age of 33 she was elected as a member of the FDP in the city council of St. Gallen , whose presidency she became the first woman to take over in 1982. In 1988 she moved to the Grand Council of the Canton of St. Gallen , which she presided over in 1994/95. Erika Forster was a member of the Council of States for the Canton of St. Gallen between 1995 and 2011 .

After her confirmation in the 2007 parliamentary elections as a member of the St. Gallen Council of States, she was elected Vice-President of the Council of States. On November 23, 2009, the Small Chamber of Parliament elected her President of the Council of States for the parliamentary year 2009/2010 with 43 out of 44 valid votes .

In the 2011 elections it has not raced for more.
