Eriosyce tenebrica is a species of plant in the genus Eriosyce from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Eriosyce tenebrica grows with somewhat spherical to flattened, blackish-brown shoots and reaches a diameter of 2 to 4 centimeters. The root is a long, conical taproot . There are twelve ribs that are divided into humps . The areoles on it are not sunk. The three to six, thin radial spines are 1 to 2 millimeters long.

The funnel-shaped, yellow to light reddish brown flowers appear from young areoles and have a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with long, fluffy wool and numerous bristles. The elongated, dry fruits open with a basal pore.

Distribution and systematics

Eriosyce tenebrica is common in the interior of the Chilean regions of Atacama and Coquimbo . It was first described as Thelocephala tenebrica in 1980 by Friedrich Ritter . Fred Kattermann placed them in the genus Eriosyce in 1994 .
