Church of the Redeemer (Jagstfeld)
The Erlöserkirche in Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld is a Protestant parish church that was built in 1966/67. It belongs to the Protestant parish Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld in the Weinstadt-Neuenstadt church district of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .
history
In Jagstfeld, which was traditionally Catholic due to its former membership of the Teutonic Order , there has only been an independent Protestant parish since 1949, which built a church hall in 1950 in Römerstraße and a parsonage next to it in 1954. In 1965 it was decided to build a church adjacent to the church hall. In the parish council meeting of February 13, 1967 it was decided to give the church the name “ Church of the Redeemer ”. The church, built according to plans by Hannes Mayer , was consecrated on December 17, 1967 by Martin Haug . The church hall was structurally connected to the church and has served as a parish hall since then.
The first three bells in the church were made in December 1968 by the Bachert bell foundry in Bad Friedrichshall , and in 1992 a fourth bell, cast by Bachert in Heilbronn , was added for the 25th anniversary .
Furnishing
The Abenmahl altarpiece by KH Türk and the Pentecost stained glass window by Wolf-Dieter Kohler have been located inside the Erlöserkirche since 1967 . An organ from 1956 has been in the Erlöserkirche since 2009, which was previously in the Protestant church in Oberrot . For the 50th anniversary of the Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld parish, the Erlöserkirche received the icon Christ the Redeemer as a gift from Untergriesheim artist Hildegard Peuser (1939–2018) .
